Is there is war on broadband operator now?

Maybe. Its look since the Malaysian government give an incentive to the internet provider the broadband become cheap at least not as cheap as we all aspect.

The 3 of (telco) communication company in Malaysia is offering at their best price to catch a people around to stick on their broadband services. The most aggresive move now is Celcom. its give the attractive price war. you can get its just RM68 for the unlimited monthly services.

Maxis also have given a new device plus a broadband services for only RM149. This one of good approach to encourage all people for getting the broadband life style.

And for DiGi now still in process to cope on the broadband price and expected will make the others two telco compete each others.

AMD Readies the Quad-Core Phenom

AMD's Phenom -- a quad-core desktop chip designed for gamers, content creators, and others running multimedia-intensive applications -- will be highly anticipated by high-end desktop users, said IDC analyst Shane Rau, who said it's too early to comment on how the performance of AMD's Phenom will stack up to Intel's quad-core chips.

While the tech world continues buzzing about Monday's quad-core AMD Opteron processor launch, some are looking forward to the Intel rival's next chip phenomenon -- and it won't be long in coming.
AMD Phenom processors, which will leverage many of the same capabilities of the Opteron's next-generation architecture, should be available for the desktop market by December.

Of course, Intel has been running on the same course with AMD, announcing its Core 2 Extreme quad-core chips in April and getting them out the manufacturing door that same month. Intel is setting out to prove that anything AMD can do in the market for high-end chips, Intel can do better.

AMD Taking Aim

Here are some specs: All AMD Phenom processors will feature resources such as an integrated DDR2 memory controller, HyperTransport technology links, and 128-bit floating point units. These elements are all designed to improve performance.

In AMD's quad-core architecture, cores communicate on the die rather than through a front side bus external to the processor. AMD's Direct Connect Architecture is designed to ensure all four cores have optimum access to the integrated memory controller and integrated HyperTransport links so performance scales well with the number of cores, the company said.

The quad-core design also features a shared L3 cache for quicker data access and Socket AM2 and Socket AM2+ compatibility to enable seamless upgrades.

"AMD's quad-core processor rollout will put more computing horsepower at PC users' fingertips," observed Nathan Brookwood, research fellow at Insight 64. "The AMD Phenom processor's ability to deliver significantly more performance within the same power and thermal envelopes as its dual-core antecedents should make this quad-core processor a fitting follow-on to earlier AMD dual-core processor offerings."

Intel Challenge

Intel is pushing the QX6800 Core 2 Extreme quad-core processor for gamers and others needing advanced multimedia performance. The QX6800 is up to 65 percent faster than Intel's Core 2 Extreme dual-core processor on video encoding, according to the company. This is a key capability as more people are recording and editing high-definition video to capture, preserve, and share memories.

Shane Rau, a chip analyst at IDC, declined to comment on how the two quad-cores compare because performance data has not been widely released for the AMD Phenom. What he did say, though, is that these new quad-core products from AMD and Intel target the top 2 percent of the desktop space. Gamers, digital content creators, and users running high-end apps are the target audience. It's an audience that seems to be ever hungry for more power.

"AMD essentially created this small segment of the market when it launched the Athlon 64 FX. At the time, Intel countered with the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition and has extended the Extreme Edition line through the new processors based on the Core architecture and Core 2 products," Rau said.

"I give AMD credit," he concluded. "The company identified a niche and designed toward it. The Phenom will be highly anticipated by high-end desktop users."

Vista to hit the shops in January

Microsoft's Windows Vista will be available to retail customers from 30 January 2007, the company has said.

The news comes days after the firm said the next version of the Windows operating system would be available to corporate customers from 30 November.

New elements in the updated software include an improved 3D interface, more search options and extra security.

Vista will be Microsoft's first new versions of Windows for the PC market since 2001.

Laptop : HP Compaq V3010AU

Hi, today i would like to review the laptop that i just purchased from Lowyat Plaza, Kuala Lumpur.

As you all know the design of this laptop is very impressive with a profesional look. I also want to share the experienced by using this laptop at first sigh and technically with the hardware.

The V3010AU features AMD dual-core processors, the oustanding AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology for top-notch system performance when you're running several demanding applications. You'll also keep on going for longer: you get better battery life with AMD's PowerNow! technology.

The first i boot the laptop it sound "TUT" very loud. I thought its exploded or something. Fuhh. So in my understanding, "its me the lappie, welcome sir, the master, i will obey your rules". Hehehe .. ok enough.

The boot time extremly faster with a Windows XP Home Edition Pre-install by the sales person when i buy it. Its go smooth and no pending time to popup the windows interface. The screen look shine by the default spec of 14.1" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800). Ouch... its look like glass on the wall, eventough the Windows Vista RC1 is not yet on my lappie (laptop).

The most impresive look is when its "ON", the blue Led will shinning the laptop. Then i touch the keyboard, its very light, in black mode and the space for me to type anything quite 'handy'. The first thing when you touch and feel the laptop it make me remember to "Sword Fish Film". Oh ya, the hackers running the Multi Million dolar for entering the bank code in less than 5 minutes. yeah. i feel like that to now. hehehe.

In addition, you get latch-free closure, touch-technology media launch buttons, and an AC power port that lights. This notebook has a sophisticated black resin finish with an inlaid wave pattern and latch-free closure. And the most i can say here is its elegant, sleek and durable.

This laptop come with NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 6150 graphic card and here is some info about it. Hardware Issue

The is some rumors about this laptop or notebook. Its quite hot on the left. Because there is a Hard Disk (HDD), and maybe the graphic processor were load nicely. But it's not a matter because others laptop also were facing this kind of issue.

The other parts is a Expansion slot and its come with 1 ExpressCard/54 Slot (also supports ExpressCard/34). I have check its not support PCMCIA card at all as this is a new technology and still lack of gadget but all this will be sort around 2007, and the Expresscard gadget will come out as hot as bluetooth and wifi too.

So i hope this review will make you and me looking to this compaq laptop as a valued money for a entry system like this.

Ok, i have done looking and searching for the best processor for my dream laptop. I choose AMD. So now im going to make some search about the laptop in market with AMD processor in the internet.

But before that's i have to looking for a tips before im buying the laptop, whatever it's i have to make some decission based on my budget. So here is the tips :

Why buy a laptop?

When portability is not a priority, the desktop PC is a great option. There are a large variety of systems to fit every need and budget.


So, all the tips above is my priority before buying the laptop and here im looking for some branded name of laptop like Acer, Dell, HP, Compaq, Fijitsu, Hyundai, Sony, Toshiba, Asus, IBM, MSI and others.

With a great power of internet now day all the information i need just a click away, im very impress with some of the product that offer a great bundle or package and of course valued for your money.

Now, i have a choose a laptop, its COMPAQ. Its look very stylish with a nice design. The product line come with a name Compaq Presario V3000 model, and what im understand is, this product look like very prestige.

Then i make a call directly as in the web site and call the HP company. I get some great information from the girls working as customer services and she so helpful. I want to order by online, but the delivery will take around 1 - 2 weeks to arrived at my door step. So im thingking for shopping, alone? hehehe. Ok. Im going. Where? Imbi Plaza or Lowyat Plaza? Nevermind. Just going and see what i will get there.

If you know what to look for when it comes to computer stuff, these are he places to go.

So you’ve decided not to go to one of the big computer dealers to buy a PC. “Why should I go to Dell / Sony / HP / IBM / Apple (delete whichever you feel like) and pay a bomb when I can build my own machine?” you say.

Well, the main reason is that few people – especially here – actually have enough knowledge to actually BUILD their own machines. If you are someone who thinks that wetware has something to do with the latest beach fashions, you should probably stick to your friendly neighbourhood vendor.

For those who are made of sterner stuff, there’s always the option of going out to the various shopping “districts” located in the country. The only question is: where do you go for the best deals?

There have been several rather famous ones overseas. Anyone remotely interested in the Internet and IT certainly heard of the Akihabara Electric Town in Tokyo – THE Mecca for net-savvy tech-heads – whilst the Golden Computer Arcade and Golden Computer Centre in Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong actually have their own Wikipedia entry. Happily, we’ve got some pretty good ones right here in KL itself.
Probably the most hip place to be now is Low Yat Plaza in Bukit Bintang. Ever since it made its debut a few years ago, it has fast overtaken Plaza Imbi as the centre for getting your geek on (see the sidebar overleaf for a fond reminisce of the old fort).

This is definitely a one-stop centre for all your IT needs (unless, of course, you intend to buy a Cray or a Silicon Graphics server / machine that will cost you a bomb. Go to Los Angeles, you rich freak). You can get components for many (and we do mean many) shops – and it really pays to shop around, as the different vendors don’t actually charge a uniform price.

There are several vendors who specialise in just components alone – cables, USB ports, switches, DRAM, VRAM and any other combination of letters that will leave you with a very expensive headache. Some shops are actually big enough to encompass several lots – I bought my home PC a few years ago from one such vendor, and they were kind enough to actually install everything because I bought all the components from them barring the software (which was original, thank you).Give yourself a medal.

Really, you can get stuck there for hours, and still not have enough time to see everything. The only real problem is that there is always a large crowd of people – even during the weekdays. Forget going on weekends, especially at the end of the month when everyone’s gaji comes in. Unless you happen to be a pickpocket ...

If the thought of coming into the heart of KL at any time of the day to buy a few computer parts is enough to drive you up the wall, a new player has come to offer an alternative. We’re talking about the Digital Mall in Section 14, PJ, which is located where Metrojaya used to be.

The concept of the building is rather cool – there’s a huge monitor screen on the outside which is actually live, because there’s someone inside doing stuff on his desktop. It’s all transmitted for all to see – so it’s safe to say that there won’t be any surfing to, shall we say, risqué sites.

There’s also a new model Toyota on display outside, which is part of a competition – to guess the number of blank DVDs in a box which is next to the car. Quite a challenge, actually; you might want to try your luck.
The Digital Mall opened its doors officially on Wednesday, Aug 9, 2006 – and like all new places, is a bit on the undercrowded side. When we visited the spanking and rather swanky new place – the counters were gleaming so well, you could probably eat char kwei teow off the floor (we don’t recommend that you try this. If you do, make sure it’s not kwei teow sup).

Still, you can sense something in the air – the intangible feel that you can get good bargains. And believe it or not, you actually do. Creative Editor Pravin Menon and I were literally glued to the first kiosk alone for at least 10 minutes each – the price of recordable DVDs were awesome. He got Ricoh double-layer DVD discs for RM12 each, whilst I got 100 unbranded single-layer DVD discs for RM50. Score!

We haven’t even begun to talk about the shops that are selling more components. Needless to say, quite a few of the weekends for the Cache crowd are going to be tied up.

There were fewer shops at the Digital Mall than at Low Yat, certainly – but that’s only a matter of time. And though there are alternatives to Low Yat like the IT Centre on the MidValley Megamall’s fourth floor, they do not offer as diverse a selection.

The Digital Mall looks set to be a permanent fixture; and though it means competition for Low Yat, it is the user who will win – and that’s what counts the most.

Choosing a processor, Intel vs. AMD

Yup, I'm looking for a laptop a mobile world today and of course you want to get with a internet life anyhow, anytime, anywhere.

So, I just make a decission either want to buy a INTEL based processor or AMD based processor laptop. So i make some research by googled to their website for a performance and good investment. I let my finger click the Titan of Processor Intel and after that the follower of succes story AMD.

So, Intel vs. AMD, what a hecked. It's not easy for me to get the best laptop for my best budget here, RM3000 or USD750. Than, sir, you have to think about The Genuine Software ever after Microsoft XP (nowday) than maybe the lastest one will be launch the Microsoft Windows Vista (early 2007). Yup u have to make a big decission here coz the upgrade of laptop means money. It's not only with the latest operating system (vista) with glass look like and of coz the hardware it's self too. So, just thinking and thinking, calculating the budget too.

So here the data i got from AMD website with a VISTA capable soon. Its AMD vs Intel for a Overall Performance.



So, here i see the best performance and the valued money for buying and investing on AMD. With that result, i make more serious research about the comparison among the mobile processor of AMD and at last i choose the Turion 64 x2 based processor or AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology to be the powerhouse of my dream laptop soon.
